St Austell to A30 Link Road

The proposed new road from Singlerose roundabout at Stenalees to the A30 at Roche represents the final phase in providing a major transport link from St Austell to the A30. The proposed 6.2km single carriageway road will help to bring economic and job creation opportunities to the area by resolving the current lack of a continuous high quality route, which is seen as a major block to economic growth.

Our client, Cornwall Council, appointed Griffiths as Main Contractor in September 2019. The St Austell to A30 Link Road comprises works to design and construct a new 6.2km single carriageway with climbing lanes from the old A30 at Victoria/Roche in the north and the A391 at Stenalees roundabout to the south. Italso includes three new roundabouts, as well as the improvement, rationalisation or relocation of existing access roads that bisect the new alignment. The project will also deliver associated footpaths, footways, bridleways and cycle paths for improved non-motorised user facilities. The project will include a replacement roundabout at Stenalees, a new access road between Stannary Road (A391) and Roche Road (the existing B3274) in Stenalees, an improved access to the Blockworks site and two underbridges.

In addition, Griffiths will carry out environmental mitigation works and maintain the landscape ecology aftercare for five years post completion. Included in the works will be the diversions of HV (high voltage) electricity cables, BT communications cables, water and gas. Throughout the works Griffiths will maintain links with the local community through regular “Drop-In” sessions and project Newsletters to continually update on progress and planned works. All works on the existing highway will be phased to minimise disruption to the travelling public
