Work began in February and continues with clearance work along sections as required for construction. To date this has been achieved by use of Temporary Traffic Lights (TTL). We have reached the stage where it is necessary for us to test the existing highway and existing structures and to install more permanent traffic management (TM) without the use of TTL thereby allowing work to progress safely and at the same time allow better traffic flow.
We will be narrowing lane widths to create a working area. This involves installing substantial barriers separating our construction areas from live traffic for safety. This work can only be achieved under road closure conditions.
Monday17th May 2021 there will be an 11 consecutive night long road closure of the A361 (night only) (20:00-06:00hrs). Each day as installation of TM grows TTL will resume for daytime traffic over an increasingly shortened area until the night-time installation is completed. TTL will again be used each weekend until this TM work is completed. All efforts will be made to minimise the number of night time closures.
Traffic will be diverted off the A361 between the Landkey junction and the North Aller Roundabout in both directions. To view the approved road closure and diversion map click here.
It is essential this is completed by the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May. Thus, allowing a continuous flow of traffic in each direction (single lane) within a 40mph speed restriction throughout the summer months when we anticipate increased traffic volumes.
Signage will be put up along the A361 at least two weeks before the closures and diversion signage for the closure periods.
