. . .
Griffiths has been appointed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to deliver the Boverton Flood Alleviation scheme.
The scheme entails the renewal of an existing culvert in the heart of Boverton near Llantwit Major. The existing culvert will be removed and a new 4m wide culvert will be constructed in its place and the alignment straightened to better deal with flood water.
With the culvert located in the heart of Boverton the works will be undertaken in phases to reduce disruption to the public and ensure that the main route through Boverton remains operational for the full duration of the scheme.
Regular public liaison meetings will also be held in order to keep local residents and businesses informed of progress and upcoming works. The structural solution for the culvert involves reinforced concrete piles to a depth of approx. 8m forming the walls of the culvert. A combined reinforced capping beam and deck soffit forming the roof of the culvert. The road will then be reinstated alongside other finishing works prior to switching to the next phase of works.
Please note this scheme is not currently registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme but will abide by the Code of Considerate Practice.
